Round 12 of the AFL home and away season gets underway with what shapes as a fascinating clash between Port Adelaide and Richmond at the Adelaide Oval on Friday June 8.

The Tigers have been posted as slight favourites in the early head to head betting with CrownBet but the premiers will have to overcome their poor interstate record in 2018 that has seen them lose both of their games outside of Victoria.

They take on a Power outfit that come off a narrow loss to Hawthorn last weekend. The Adelaide based side have won six of their 10 games this year and will be hard to beat at their home ground. The action gets underway at 7.50PM AEST.

There are seven games scheduled for the weekend, which concludes on Monday for the traditional Queen's Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood. Four teams will enjoy the week off with the bye and they are Carlton, Hawthorn, West Coast and the Western Bulldogs.

On Saturday, there are four matches in store and the first of those will be played down in Geelong, where the Cats host North Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium. The two sides sit 5th and 6th respectively on the ladder and it is the Cats that have been installed as the $1.45 favourites in the early head to head betting.

Following this, the competition's two expansion clubs, GWS and Gold Coast, square off at Spotless Stadium in Western Sydney. The Giants bounced back into form last weekend, defeating Adelaide, and are expected to get the points here.

On Saturday night it is St Kilda and the Sydney Swans that meet at Etihad Stadium. The Saints have won just one game this season with that effort coming way back in Round 1 but they can be buoyed by their strong finish against West Coast last weekend.

However, Sydney will start as warm favourites and have won seven of their 10 games this year. The Swans sit in 3rd position on the ladder and have a great recent record against the Saints.

Sunday footy sees Brisbane host Essendon at the GABBA, while later on, it is Fremantle and Adelaide that go head to head at Perth Stadium. That quartet of sides are currently outside the eight. Essendon and Adelaide are still in the race for a finals birth but can ill afford another loss.

One of the big highlights will be the Monday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood. Both sides are in good form and it is the Demons that have been posted as favourites in early markets with CrownBet
