Round 18 of the AFL home and away season features some huge games for a number of sides and the action gets underway on Friday night, July 20, when St Kilda host Richmond at Etihad Stadium.

The 7.50PM clash pits the ladder leading Tigers up against the Saints, who are 15th on the ladder, and the premiers need a win in order to hold on to top spot. They have been installed as $1.10 favourites in the head to head betting but come off a loss in Round 17 to GWS, while on the same weekend, St Kilda prevailed in their game against Carlton.

On Saturday there are five games in store and the first of those sees Collingwood take on North Melbourne at the MCG. The Magpies are in 3rd position on the ladder but could slip out of the top four if they go down.

Their opponents, North Melbourne, missed out against Sydney last weekend, going down by six points and another loss will be a major blow to their finals hopes. The Kangaroos are 9th on the ladder and are slight underdogs for the game against the Pies.

At around the same time in Sydney, the Swans play host to the Gold Coast Suns at the SCG and the home side should be able to add to their record of 11 wins from the 16 games that they have played this year.

Following this, it is Essendon that take on Fremantle at Etihad Stadium. The Bombers sit just one game out of the eight and head in as favourites for this one but will need to be at their best against a Freo outfit that managed to defeat Port Adelaide in Round 17.

On Saturday night there are two games and it is the Brisbane Lions that take on Adelaide, while Geelong face Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong. The result of the Cats and Demons clash will have a major bearing on ladder positions at the end of the round with those two sides featuring in the lower rungs of the eight.

On Sunday, there are three games to close out the round and the first of those sees Carlton play Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium. After wasting an opportunity to consolidate their position by losing to Brisbane last weekend, the Hawks will be desperate not to let this one slip and are as short as $1.12 in the early head to head betting.

Over in Perth, it is the West Coast Eagles that take on the Western Bulldogs at Perth Stadium. The Eagles jumped to 2nd spot on the ladder after defeating Collingwood last weekend and will be hard to beat in this.

The action concludes with another ladder shaping game and this time it is Port Adelaide that face GWS. The two sides sit in 5th and 7th spots and at this stage there is little that separates them in the head to head betting.
